Family reunification

Bring your family

to join you

Family ties documented the way AIMA reads them, lawyer at your side on the day.

One resident, then the people who belong with them. The work is proving the relationship in a form the authority accepts.

For residents in Portugal applying for a spouse, partner, children or dependent parents.

Three Portuguese essentials, then certified documents and the visa

One file, whole family
Every applicant tracked together, not separately
Who this is for

A qualifying relationship to someone already resident

Relationship documents almost always need dual certification. That is the part we handle first, because it takes the longest.

A primary applicant who already holds, or is applying for, a Portuguese residence permit
A qualifying relationship: spouse or legally recognised partner, minor children, dependent adult children, or dependent parents
Civil documents proving the relationship, apostilled or consular-legalised and translated
Accommodation and means evidence from the resident family member. AIMA works from the minimum wage as its reference, EUR 920 a month in 2026, with around 50% more for each additional adult and 30% for each child, but it judges whether the household can reasonably support itself case by case rather than against a fixed statutory floor, so plan for a margin above the reference rather than treating it as a pass mark
