e-expat was founded by Wei and Marcel. Two people, one named case owner for you, and licensed Portuguese professionals on every regulated step.
The founders
Wei runs day-to-day operations, drawing on 20 years on the practical side of visas and relocation, including years in the overseas education sector in China before relocating to Portugal, so the client side of a move is not new territory to him. Based in Portugal since 2015, he has supported client moves from first tax number through to residence permit, and that is where the checklists on this site come from: cases seen end to end, on both sides of the counter.
Marcel co-founded e-expat after relocating to Portugal with his own family. He brings that firsthand relocation experience together with a background in business and technology, shaping how the company operates and scales.

Most relocation platforms sell you a form. We read your case first, and tell you which forms you actually need.
Our role
e-expat is the coordination and client-support layer for your move: we assess your case, prepare and check your documents, and manage every deadline and appointment. We do not issue documents or file regulated applications ourselves. Licensed professionals in Portugal do that, the solicitadores, lawyers and accountants in our partner network, and you are always told who is acting on your file.
